There was an option that gave them the signature spell of every lore (like High Elf Loremasters), and their lore attribute for High Magic was that when they successfully cast a High Magic spell, they could swap it for a roll on the table of your choice, so you could start with a High Magic loremaster Slann and finish with a spell from each lore (since High Magic had eight spells on tabletop).Īnd that's just 8th edition. but for the record, there were actually several ways to get Slann using multiple lores on the tabletop. I think that's what Arcani was suggesting. Properly to TT? No.Iirc Slann had to choose a lore in TT. And Nagash would also have access to 4 full lores. They would be able to use All Lores of Magic.ĭefine "properly". Technically speaking, if Slaan Mage Priests were implemented Properly.

I could see a Skink High Priest with access to a different lore or two at the Lord level (possibly Light, Heavens or Life if they're given coatl mounts, because then they'd be able to replicate tabletop coatls), but spellcasters at the hero level should need to be Heavens or Beasts, since that's what the overwhelming majority of Skink Priests are. Strictly speaking, Skink Priests blessed by other specific Old Ones have other lores, but in practice they're rare enough that I wouldn't want to see them get introduced at the hero level and suddenly be what everyone takes (like Life Sorceresses in 8E.) I think it might have been as late as 8E that they decided that Skink Priests of Sotek were common enough to make the Lore of Beasts available as well. Tehenhauin was the most powerful Skink Priest in history, and he was still only a level 3 on the tabletop.įor a while, they only had access to Heavens outside of the god-specific lists. Skinks, by contrast, are weaker than humans in terms of magical potential.

The key here is that Slann are really freakingly powerful magic users.
